Long – Span Flippers: How to set up

Have you gotten a request for a flipper with multiple teeth?

For us ortho techs we usually work with single tooth flippers or hawleys with pontics added to them. We can usually attach the pontic with wax using the existing teeth on either side of the pontic. But what if you get a request for 2 or more teeth, it starts getting kinda hard to attach a pontic to another pontic especially in sequence. It starts getting fragile and you have to be careful while you are sprinkling acrylic behind it. And even an added challenge to this is when the gums and alveolar process have recess or shrunken down so much that you can even attach the teeth to the cast at the gingival margin of the pontics. they have to be suspended above the gums. That is where this method comes in handy. I use a support bar to hold all the teeth together. Let the pictures do the talking… Members: I took some video of the acrylic portion this flipper and some of the trimming of the teeth see its raw form here.
