Where have I been?
As some of you may know I have taken a new position in a new lab. I started working there on April 16th.
Why the new job you ask?
Im glad you asked….
Simple answer, Opportunity.
Not financial opportunity ( well, maybe a little 🙂 but an opportunity to broaden what I want to do with my career. I have come to the realization over the past year that I really like making these videos and sharing them with others that were like me, that started out in this field not knowing much and not knowing where to turn for information on orthodontic laboratory techniques. That is why I started my youtube channel and this website as like a “repository of the knowledge” that any one at any time can access when they want to learn something new.
I got approached by another ortho lab to see if I would like to come aboard and be the lab manager for them, they had been following my efforts on this site and even sent some of their technicians to watch some of my videos on youtube. When I mention about the education part of my career that I was wanting to pursue they were totally on board!
So after about a month of settling in to the new digs, learning their techniques and flow of cases throughout their lab we have now had our first trial training class. Thats right folks, we are pursuing an Orthodontic Laboratory training school! It may or may not happen, but we are going to try. It will be centrally located here in Dallas, Texas so hopefully centrally located in the nation.
But don’t worry if you can move down here to attend, I also what to have and online aspect to the school right here on this site. The goal would be to record or live stream the class room segment and also the lab segment. So, even though you might not be here physically you might be able to work alongside us for the comfort of your home or lab. And hopefully we can have a valuable library of videos at your disposal.
So that is what I am working on now, don’t worry I will keep the updates coming as the school progresses, we are currently looking for locations where we could house the lab and the school in the same building!
One great thing about working at this new lab, the owner is a 20 year CDT in orthodontics. We are sharing and learning new techniques and methods everyday. It is really opening my eyes to the different ways of doing the same thing and forcing me to open my mind to being “trained” again. You guys are going to learn right along with me, as I learn new techniques I will record them and post it here in the paid subscriber section, so if you are not a paid subscriber yet click here and give it a try, the first 30 days are free.
So stay tuned to this blog  I will hopefully have weekly updates and/or videos going up! (fingers crossed) If you have any questions or comment be sure and ask them below.
